InsightDid you know that your brain is literally designed to be negative? That took some weight off my shoulders when I came across the studies. It’s called negative bias. Your evolutionary survival mechanism that places your natural focus on threats, risks, and worst-case scenarios. Great for when you want to avoid predators. Not really necessary when you are about to present in front of your business peers or adopting the many changes at work. Think you’re stuck in this negative bias? Think again. Your brain is capable of change. This is neuroplasticity. It is the science of rewiring your neural pathways through repeated, intentional thought patterns. So What? What you practise. You become. When you decide to commit to daily confidence training, even for a minute of two per day, you are literally rewiring your brain’s neural pathways. Yes, you are acting on your decision to reshape how your brain responds to pressure, uncertainty, and challenge. I know through practice and seeing these results in my longer term clients, confident thinking stops being an effort when you apply neuroplasticity work consistently. It becomes your default. Exercise to Apply. Each morning, before you check your phone, ask yourself. What is one thing I can do today that stretches me? Then commit to doing it. That single act of courage, each day, compounds over time. It is those small shifts from your action here, that creates lasting change that you feel before you notice. Now here is the perspective I love. This practice is not woo-woo motivation. It's neuroscience in action that doesn’t take a lot of time to implement. All the best, Susan. Love podcasts? Want more concise action to use neuroplasticity to level up your confidence during change and when speaking?

Today at work I asked myself, “Am I still needed here?” I love learning and using AI but the more I learn and realise its benefits on the job, the more that doubtful question repeats itself in my mind with increasing volume. I'm okay with the uncertainty this question of value...
Insight Fear commonly triggers a deeply anchored feeling that you want to run and get far away from a particular speaking situation. This feeling influences your thoughts, how your body responds, and how you make decisions. So What? This new territory...
