InsightAuthenticity versus being genuine. Is there a difference? Yes. Simplistically:
Both are required when speaking publicly to build trust and foster long term relationships in business. So What?Authenticity is sharing your opinion, perspective and experience in context to the topic you are speaking on. Being genuine is how you experience this using your natural body language, sincerity in gestures, and honest reactions. When you are both authentic and genuine, when a mistake happens, you get a distraction or tangent, or stumble on words, it becomes easier for you to get back on track due to your authenticity and genuineness becoming your anchor. Your audience becomes more forgiving, dare I say, even may become helpful and extra supportive to help you get back on track. It builds a human connection.
