InsightRest is critical to confidence. It is it's secret weapon to achieving it no matter what life is throwing at you. Yes I said it. Yes I went there. Being overworked and overcommitted, in my opinion and experience, is not a value adding space to be in. Anything you do in that space would most likely come out of reaction instead of choosing how to respond, come from stress instead of peace, and there is a high probability it is wrapped in self-doubt, fear, and a fuzzy, tired mind. Do you really want that experience? I don't! Because it results in a feeling of flatness where you probably rather hide away in any of your comfort zones instead of stepping out and through in your life with confidence. This is an experience where I need to daily and consciously decide not to have. I need to always be choosing this because the resistance of my comfort zone pulls me back with the fake stories of the fake value being overworked, run down, and over committed provides and its is a very seductive sales person. So What?If I do not choose this, it means I increase the risk of being stuck somewhere. I prevent myself moving forward and through where I am today so I can get to living my dreams and goals. Is this the same for you? Can you relate to any or all of this? I love deepening my understanding and application of public speaking and confidence skills to move forward and through with a peacefulness even during the mess of life. I enjoy applying different disciplines and methods from other schools of thought into my life and work with others. When I do not decide to apply this work and I do not decide to rest to allow everything else to boost my confidence, I display a 'fake' confidence that drains my energy, and I live in what feels like survival mode. Because I have experienced too many case studies and results where resting actually boosts my confidence, cognitive functions, and overall quality of the way I experience my life, it has become easier to identify when I need rest, and to decide to give myself permission to rest and enjoy it while I'm there. I am beginning to experience a resting state even while I go through high-demand periods. Rest provides a compounding positive impact to confidence overtime. And I also learned that rest doesn't need to be a holiday. You and I need to identify, learn, and apply ways to rest in the mess of life. I like to think of it like refueling my car with fuel so it doesn't run on empty, damage the car, and then come to a stop (usually where I never want to stop). I think of it in this way because I learned through too many painful and avoidable situations that if you do not rest to refuel, you will come to a stop. Usually in a moment that is not expected and definitely not desired. If you are lucky, you will be able to get fixed and keep going, or you may come to a final stop. Therefore I now choose to refuel and prioritise rest so my confidence and overall quality of life gets a boost. What do you want?
