A New Perspective on the Three Areas of Confidence

Insight

There are three areas of confidence I know we need to consistently boost so your confidence can grow with you throughout your life. They are:

Self-belief - confidence in yourself
Self-efficacy - confidence in your ability
Resilience - confidence to adapt

So What?

Each of the three areas listed above, are tested when you are faced with a public speaking moment, faced with change, or seeking to develop something within yourself.

This is because you will be stepping out of your comfort zone and into your growth zone, even if the situation seems familiar.

How you view or define what you experience externally and internally shifts whether you want it to or not, so there becomes a need to reframe how you perceive these three areas of confidence. I learned the hard way many times (I guess I like to test what I learn), that when I did not reframe how I experienced confidence or allowed it space to evolve, I felt stuck, overwhelmed, nervous and self-doubt.

Tip to Apply

For years I used affirmations without success. Then I started to study the ones I felt related to confidence and realised I needed to open up my perception on them because I was viewing each affirmation in an old, outdated lens which did not help me step forward.

Once I did this, things changed within me. I felt taller. My posture changed. My voice became calmer and stronger without the need to overpower others. The self-critic became quieter and I started to come across constructive criticism that uplifted instead of torn down.

Then my external world started to change. I started to see and feel things falling into place and it no longer seemed like I was carrying a heavy weight. Instead I felt like I wasn’t holding anything and instead I was conducting a flow of all that was coming to me out to where it needed to go.
